Lola's Story

These beautiful 6 puppies are ready for their forever home! Levi, Loki, Leo, Leia, Lola and Lexi were born around February 7, 2024 (this is approximate). A good Samaritan contacted us when they saw a dog tied up on an porch in an abandoned house, and small cries coming from around the same area. After investigating, the person found 6 small puppies hungry, covered in fleas, ticks and ants and severely anemic (their gums were almost pure white). They immediately scooped up the puppies and the mom, and took them to their house where they started on flea baths, flea meds, and dewormer. It was estimated they were around 5 weeks old when they were originally found. How this mom survived, we don’t know. How the puppies survived is also beyond us. They had no color to them, the intestinal and external parasites were literally draining them of the little they had. Now? Mom and the puppies are thriving in foster care. You would never know they were once on deaths door. The puppies are spunky little boogers. They have so much life in them. They love to run around and play with their toys and cause as much trouble as they possibly can. They currently weigh (as of 4/2) around 6 lbs each. Mom weighs about 35-40 lbs and she looks to be an Australian shepherd/cattle dog/husky mix. Dad is unknown. We don’t think these puppies will get over 40-45ish lbs once full grown. There is one specific outside cat that loves to sometimes steal from their food bowl. They have met the inside kitties too, and they don't mind them. They'd do great with inside and outside kitties. These sweet babies are just now learning what it’s like to truly be a puppy. When we first got them, they sat in the corner of the puppy pen, shaking and whimpering. In just a few hours though, they were warming up to the foster and starting to wag their little tails. When they first got toys, they were so confused on what they were. They kept sniffing them and staring at them with a sideways look. Then when one of them picked one up, they all realized “oh wow, that’s what they are for!”. This litter has done a complete 180. Now they come up to you and give you kisses. When you call them they all wiggle their butts in pure happiness, excited that people are actually giving them attention and love. These puppies love every human they’ve met, and they especially love other dogs. They love to cuddle, they’re still learning what it’s like being held but loving it once they realize they get lots of pets. We strongly believe these puppies will thrive in mild-high active homes as they are only young puppies that will need lots of exercise, training, and consistency to become the best versions of themselves. You cannot go wrong giving one of these beautiful babies a chance. All adoption fees include current negative hw test if old enough, current age appropriate vaccines including rabies, parvo/distemper, bordatella, current heart worm and flea/tick preventions, lifetime registered microchip, 2 dewormers and transport costs from Texas to the East Coast. PLEASE READ THIS TO ADOPT: Fill out an application to adopt: Www.ruraltank.org/adopt We process applications as first come, first serve so we suggest you fill out an application as soon as possible as we can receive quite a few per animal. ALMOST ALL OF OUR ANIMALS ARE LOCATED IN SOUTH TEXAS. They are posted in areas where we transport to or around to, once an adoption is finalized. 95% of our animals are pre adopted prior to transport, if you want to do a meet and greet with an animal in person we suggest going to a local shelter as we probably will not be able to offer that. We do have a few animals located in foster homes up north that are available to meet first, you are welcome to email us to inquire which ones. Once approved though us, we will put you in contact with the foster family that has your animal to learn more about them! There are transports that leave every 1-2 weeks. Application turn around is usually about 1-3 days max, if not sooner. After you submit an application and want to send additional information or pictures of current animals/past ones in a separate email, we love that and it always helps your chances.
